Singapore – March 5, 2015 – Cohn & Wolfe, a leading brand communications agency, won three awards during the 2015 Marketing Interactive PR Awards ceremony held last night in Singapore. The awards recognized Cohn & Wolfe’s expertise across social and traditional media.


Now in its second year, the Marketing Interactive PR Awards are the premiere public relations award program in Southeast Asia. Recognizing brands that have pushed themselves towards measureable success, through sound and strategic communications, the awards celebrate the best public relations departments, partners and agencies that Southeast Asia has to offer.

iFly Singapore, Southeast Asia’s largest themed vertical wind tunnel for indoor skydiving, faced the challenge of raising awareness of indoor skydiving as a viable and accessible sport. The general misconception is that the sport is also difficult to learn. Cohn & Wolfe was engaged to develop a campaign to address these barriers and drive home iFly Singapore’s tagline of “Anyone Can Fly”. To meet the client’s goals, C&W developed an integrated marketing campaign with a strong social media focus leveraging Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, online influencer engagements and blogger relations. So You Think You Can Fly, the first-ever indoor skydiving reality series on YouTube, aimed to increase awareness for indoor skydiving as a fun and accessible sport and raise awareness for selected charity organizations, with celebrity contestants competing for cash prizes and flight vouchers for their chosen charities. The results on social media were impressive, receiving over 120 mentions and 65,000 quality engagement covering all key messages, and the six campaign–related videos on YouTube receiving over 13,000 views within four weeks.

Many people cannot relate to the inconvenience, and sometimes danger, that the deaf community deals with on a daily basis - unable to hear sounds around them, from fire alarms and car honks to a boiling tea kettle or doorbell ringing. Cohn & Wolfe was asked to conceptualize a media session that underlined the plight of the deaf community and showcased two smart phone apps developed by Grey Group Singapore to help the deaf overcome the sound barrier. Hearing Aide provides the deaf community with support during emergencies by processing ambient sounds and transmitting visual and kinetic notifications to the user. Say it With Signs helps the deaf community make audio telephone calls by processing audio messages into digital hand signs displayed on the receiver’s mobile phone. To attract the attention of local media, the team focused on how the two apps fulfill the emotional needs for both the deaf and their hearing loved ones. These messages were brought to life in an experiential media session attended by local and technology media, where they were brought up close to the plight of the deaf community. The entire outreach resulted in 49 non-paid media pieces in total, across print, broadcast and social media, with a ROI of over 200 times the initial PR investment.
